Meet Your Coach:
Meredith Scudder
I have always had a heart for helping others heal and get to the root of their distress, rather than just manage the symptoms seen on the surface. This led me into the mental health field as a psychotherapist, specializing in trauma, attachment, and neuroscience. While working with individuals in their emotional pain, I realized what really filled my cup was seeing the strengths, passions, and potential in others. This led to a deeper drive to help others recognize these qualities for themselves and to shine light on the hindrances.
What the world calls a “mental health crisis”, the Bible refers to as a spiritual battle (Ephesians 6). We have an enemy that comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus has come so we may have a full, satisfying, abundant life (John 10:10). In the work that I’ve done in the mental health field, I can’t help but view it all through a spiritual lens. We experience hurt and emotional pain within relationships, and the enemy capitalizes on this, skewing how we see ourselves, others, the world around us, and ultimately how we view God. If we have a skewed perspective of God, then how can we truly walk in who He created us to be?
Over the years, the Lord has taken me on a deep, personal healing journey with Him. He has revealed cycles that were no longer serving me, shame and lies I was operating out of, and things of this world I was turning to for a sense of identity, worth, and purpose. Throughout my journey with the Lord, He has helped me heal from wounds that were hindering me from the life He intended for me. This healing journey influenced my shift from psychotherapy to coaching, and it has been a gift that I feel called to share with others.
Outside of coaching, I enjoy hiking, working out at the gym, nature photography, and kayaking. I love music and singing; Christian hip-hop/ R&B/ EDM gets me fired up and is one of my favorite ways to worship. I love spending time with my family and getting competitive in a game of cards. When I’m relaxing at home, I’m either forcing my cat, Zadeh, to cuddle with me, or I’m reprimanding her for tearing stuff up. When it’s football season, you will find me rooting on my Cincinnati Bengals and doing my best to regulate and separate my emotions from the game.
